Creepy Crawly Floral Wreath
Welcome your guests with a wreath that is equal parts elegant and unsettling. Start with a basic grapevine wreath or a foam wreath form from the dollar store. Wrap the form in black ribbon or spray paint it entirely black. Next, collect a variety of faux silk flowers—roses, dahlias, and carnations work beautifully—in dark hues like deep burgundy, plum, and black. Cut the stems short and hot glue the flower heads tightly around the wreath form, leaving some of the dark branches exposed for a wild, overgrown look.
To add the “creepy” element, weave plastic spiders, centipedes, and beetles throughout the blossoms. You can paint these bugs with metallic gold or silver spray paint to make them pop against the dark petals, giving the wreath a designer, high-fashion gothic edge. Add a large, cascading bow made of black lace or velvet ribbon at the bottom. Hang this wreath on your front door to set a sophisticated, spooky tone for your entire home right at the entrance.
