Floating Witch Hats
Turn your porch or living room ceiling into a magical, floating display inspired by the Great Hall of Hogwarts. This whimsical DIY project requires just a few cheap materials: black nylon witch hats from the dollar store, clear fishing line, a long sewing needle, and battery-operated LED tea lights or glow sticks. Start by threading a long piece of fishing line through the very tip of each witch hat using the needle. Tie a secure knot on the inside of the hat so the line doesn’t slip through.
Next, attach a lightweight LED tea light to the inside of the hat’s crown using safety pins or adhesive strips. Hang the hats from your ceiling, porch rafters, or tree branches using command hooks or by tying the fishing line to small nails. When night falls, turn on the tea lights, and the hats will appear to float magically in mid-air, glowing softly from within. The gentle swaying of the hats in the evening breeze adds an extra layer of enchantment that will captivate trick-or-treaters and neighbors alike.
