2. Terrazzo Style Polymer Clay Coasters

2

The iconic mid-century terrazzo pattern has made a massive comeback in modern interior design, and you can easily replicate this high-end look using accessible polymer clay. Creating custom coasters allows you to experiment with bespoke color palettes that perfectly complement your coffee table styling. Start by choosing a base color—crisp white, soft ivory, or terracotta work beautifully—alongside three to four accent colors for the terrazzo “chips.”

Condition your base clay by rolling it until it is smooth and pliable. Roll out a flat sheet roughly a quarter-inch thick using an acrylic roller. Next, slice your accent clay colors into tiny, irregular specks and geometric fragments. Scatter these colorful chips generously across the surface of your base sheet. Gently pass the acrylic roller over the top to press the chips flush into the base clay, creating a seamless, mottled pattern. Use a round cookie cutter or a craft knife to slice the clay into perfect circles or trendy hexagons. Bake according to your clay manufacturer’s instructions, let them cool, and sand the edges with wet-and-dry sandpaper for a smooth, matte stone finish.
