11. Eucalyptus and Lavender Dried Floral Wreath

11

Modern wreaths are no longer reserved just for the holiday season; contemporary floral hoops made with dried eucalyptus and lavender add aromatic elegance to interior doors and gallery walls all year long. Start with a minimalist brass ring or an unfinished wooden embroidery hoop as your base, leaving a portion of the frame exposed for an asymmetrical, modern design composition.

Gather small bundles of dried silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, and fragrant French lavender stems. Secure the small bunches together at their stems using fine green floral wire. Beginning on one side of your hoop, lay the first bundle down and wrap wire tightly around the stems and frame. Layer subsequent floral bundles over the exposed wire of the previous ones, working in a downward crescent curve. To finish the design, tuck the stems of the final bundle under the foliage of the top bundle and secure cleanly. Accent the wreath with a long, trailing ribbon made of frayed raw-edge silk or linen for a romantic, organic touch.
