14. Hand-Poured Terrazzo Resin Trinket Tray

14

Crafting custom trinket trays using non-toxic eco-resin (such as Jesmonite) allows you to create functional, boutique-quality stone objects right at home. These trays are perfect for holding jewelry, keys, or perfume bottles on your dresser. To create terrazzo chips, mix a small batch of eco-resin, color it with liquid pigments like cobalt blue, rust, or sage, spread it thin on a plastic sheet, and let it cure. Once hard, snap it into tiny irregular fragments.

Next, prepare your main tray mix using a silicone tray mold. Mix the liquid and base powder of your eco-resin according to precise ratios, adding a generous handful of your pre-made colorful chips into the liquid matrix. Pour the mixture into your silicone mold, tapping the sides firmly to release any trapped air bubbles. Allow the tray to cure completely for approximately 2 to 3 hours before demolding. The key step is hand-sanding: use wet sandpaper under running water, starting with 80-grit and moving up to 400-grit, to wear down the top layer of resin and reveal the brilliant, smooth terrazzo chips beneath.
