4. Apothecary Potion Bottles with Aged Labels
Turn your vanity or floating shelves into an ancient alchemist’s workstation by crafting your own collection of dusty apothecary potion bottles. This project is highly customizable, allowing you to play with various shapes, sizes, and colors of glass. Filled with mystical liquids, sparkling powders, and sealed with faux wax, these bottles look like they contain powerful spells, curses, and elixirs.
Gather recycled glass bottles of different shapes—such as old syrup bottles, perfume decanters, or olive oil jars. Paint some with a translucent glass stain in deep amber, emerald green, or amethyst. To age the bottles, rub a mixture of dark brown acrylic paint and water into the crevices, wiping away the excess to simulate years of accumulated dust. Print out vintage-style apothecary labels, singe the edges with a lighter, and adhere them to the glass. Fill the bottles with water tinted with food coloring and a pinch of fine metallic glitter, then seal the corks with hot glue styled to look like dripping wax.
