14. Spellbound Crystal Ball with Swirling Mist
No fortune teller’s room is complete without a glowing, mystical crystal ball. This DIY version uses a glass globe, fiberfill, and color-changing LED lights to recreate the mesmerizing illusion of swirling, colorful smoke trapped inside the glass. It makes for an eye-catching nightlight on a bedside table, casting a soothing, magical glow across your room.
Find a clear glass light globe replacement shade or a round fishbowl. Pull apart a handful of white polyester fiberfill (pillow stuffing) until it is light, airy, and cloud-like. Insert a battery-operated, color-changing LED puck light with a remote control into the bottom of the globe, and pack the loose fiberfill around it. The fibers will diffuse the LED light, making it look like active, undulating fog. Set the globe onto an ornate metal or wooden stand painted in metallic gold or bronze to complete the fortune-teller look.
