13. Creepy Crawly Magnet Specimen Board
Create a fun, interactive, and slightly unsettling wall display with a magnetic creepy crawly board. This project features dozens of realistic faux insects, such as spiders, centipedes, and beetles, that appear to be swarming across a framed metallic surface. Because they are magnetic, you can rearrange the swarm daily, creating a dynamic piece of decor that will delight and startle guests.
Take a large, ornate picture frame and replace the glass with a sheet of galvanized sheet metal, which you can paint in a chalkboard black or a vintage cream color. Purchase a large pack of plastic spiders and insects. Using strong adhesive, glue a small, powerful neodymium magnet to the underside of each plastic bug. Place the bugs on the magnetic board in a swirling, crawling pattern, making it look as though they are escaping from the frame and invading your room.
