Paper Quilling Simple Webs
Paper quilling might sound advanced, but a simplified version is incredibly fun and highly beneficial for developing fine motor skills in older children. To start this project, you will need black cardstock for the background and pre-cut strips of white, silver, or light blue paper. Show your children how to roll the paper strips tightly around a pencil or a toothpick, and then let them expand slightly before gluing the ends shut to create circular and teardrop shapes. To construct the web, first glue down several straight, radiating strips of paper to form the spokes of the web. Then, have your children pinch their rolled paper coils into teardrop shapes and glue them in between the spokes to represent the intricate webbing. The result is a stunning, three-dimensional piece of art that looks highly professional and elegant. It is a wonderful way to teach patience, precision, and the beauty of geometric patterns in art.
