CD Upcycled CD Spider Webs
Give old, scratched CDs or DVDs a second life with this brilliant upcycling craft. The shiny, metallic surface of a CD provides a gorgeous, reflective background that shimmers beautifully when hung near a window or light source. To begin, have your children paint the shiny side of the CD with black acrylic paint and let it dry completely. Once dry, use a wooden stylus, a toothpick, or even an empty ballpoint pen to gently scratch away lines of the black paint, revealing the shiny, rainbow-reflective surface underneath in the shape of a spider web. This scratch-art technique is incredibly satisfying and allows for highly detailed designs. Alternatively, you can weave colorful yarn through the center hole of the CD and around the outer edges to create a woven web directly over the metallic surface, combining texture and shine beautifully.
