7. Acorn Painting Activity
Acorn painting is a dynamic, action-oriented craft that is perfect for energetic toddlers who prefer movement over sitting still. Instead of using traditional paintbrushes, this activity utilizes gravity, motion, and real acorns to create a stunning abstract masterpiece. It is a fantastic way to teach toddlers about cause and effect, as they watch how moving a box makes the paint-covered acorns roll around and leave colorful tracks behind them.
Find a shallow cardboard box, like a shoebox lid, and tape a piece of white paper inside it. Place a few squirts of washable fall-colored paint directly onto the paper. Drop three or four real acorns into the box. Show your toddler how to hold the sides of the box and gently tilt it back and forth, side to side. As the acorns roll through the paint, they will create beautiful, intersecting lines and patterns across the paper, resulting in an eye-catching work of modern autumn art.
