14. Indian Corn Painting with Bubble Wrap
Indian corn, with its beautiful mosaic of red, yellow, orange, and purple kernels, is a gorgeous natural decoration for the fall season. Recreating this texture with bubble wrap is a highly engaging process that toddlers will love. The popping texture of the bubble wrap combined with the stamping motion makes this a highly sensory craft that results in a wonderfully realistic representation of autumn maize.
Cut a piece of sturdy cardboard into the shape of a corn cob. Wrap a small piece of bubble wrap around a wooden block or a rolling pin, with the bubbles facing outward. Let your toddler paint the bubbles with a mix of yellow, orange, red, and brown paint. Roll or press the painted bubble wrap onto the cardboard corn shape to print a perfect pattern of colorful kernels. Finish by gluing some real dried corn husks or brown paper strips to the top of the cob.
