Eerie Window Silhouettes
Turn the windows of your home into a canvas of shadow puppetry that tells a scary story to the outside world. This highly effective, low-cost craft involves cutting out large, detailed silhouettes from heavy black poster board or cardboard. Classic designs include stalking monsters, witches stirring cauldrons, swarms of bats, or elegant Victorian ghosts. Adhere these cutouts directly to the inside of your window panes using double-sided tape.
To bring the silhouettes to life, cover the windows with thin, translucent white or orange plastic tablecloths or sheets. Keep the interior lights of those specific rooms on, or position bright floor lamps directly behind the silhouettes pointing toward the windows. From the street, your house will appear to be filled with active, dark entities casting sharp, dramatic shadows against a vibrant, glowing background, creating a highly cinematic effect.
