The Hanging Cocoon Victims

18

Transform your porch or a large tree into a terrifying spider’s larder by hanging life-sized cocooned victims from the branches. Create the body shapes using lightweight materials like plastic milk jugs, bubble wrap, or cheap plastic skeletons. Wrap the figures tightly in layers of white stretch wrap and white spiderweb webbing until they are completely encased, leaving just enough silhouette to identify them as human shapes.

Hang them upside down from sturdy tree limbs or porch rafters using thick, dark rope. To make the scene even more horrifying, nestle dozens of small plastic spiders all over the cocoons, appearing to feed or hatch from the wrapped bodies. Position a spotlight below pointing upward to highlight the textured webbing and cast dramatic, elongated shadows on your house.
