3. Paper Plate Spiderwebs with Yarn
This fine-motor-skill masterpiece combines simple paper plates with colorful yarn to create intricate, beautiful spiderwebs. It is an excellent quiet-time activity that encourages concentration, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness as children weave their own unique web patterns.
Take a sturdy paper plate and cut out the inner circle, leaving just the outer rim. Use a hole punch to create holes spaced about an inch apart all around the inner edge of the rim. Tie a long piece of black, white, or neon purple yarn to one hole, and let your child thread the yarn across the opening to different holes, creating a crisscross web pattern. Once the web is woven and secured, they can craft a small spider out of a black pom-pom and pipe cleaners to glue right in the center of their masterpiece.
