19. Yarn-Wrapped Cardboard Monsters
Yarn wrapping is a fantastic, calming activity for kids that helps develop hand strength and coordination. These yarn-wrapped monsters are delightfully fuzzy, completely customizable, and allow kids to experiment with bright, non-traditional Halloween colors.
Cut out various monster body shapes from thick, recycled cardboard—try circles, triangles, or blob shapes. Cut small notches around the edges of the cardboard shapes to help hold the yarn in place. Tie a long strand of colorful, textured yarn to the cardboard and let your child wrap it around and around in every direction until the cardboard is covered in a cozy, fuzzy coat. Tuck the end of the yarn safely inside, and glue on big felt mouths, paper teeth, and giant googly eyes to complete your friendly monster squad.
