1. Glowing Mason Jar Mummy Lanterns

1

Transforming ordinary glass jars into spooky, glowing mummies is one of the most satisfying and budget-friendly projects a teenager can tackle this autumn. This craft strikes the perfect balance between eerie and cozy, making it an excellent addition to a bedroom windowsill or a Halloween party centerpiece. Using simple materials like gauze bandage rolls, googly eyes, and battery-operated tea lights, you can create a flickering army of undead lanterns in under thirty minutes.

To begin, thoroughly clean your glass jars to ensure the adhesive sticks properly. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge or liquid craft glue around the exterior of the jar. Unroll your gauze and wrap it unevenly around the glass, overlapping layers to mimic authentic mummy bandages. Leave small gaps where the glass peeks through so the light can shine out. Before wrapping the final layer, glue two large, expressive googly eyes onto the jar, then wrap a thin strand of gauze slightly over the top and bottom of the eyes to give them a sunken, sleepy, or startled expression. Once dry, drop a flickering LED tea light inside and watch your mummy come to life with a warm, haunting glow.
