8. Art Nouveau Flowering Botanical Cat

8

Inspired by the flowing lines and organic forms of Alphonse Mucha and the Art Nouveau movement, the Flowering Botanical Cat blends feline elegance with nature-inspired motifs. This project turns a paper roll into a canvas for swirling vines, delicate blossoms, and graceful curves. Begin by coating the cardboard cylinder in a muted, elegant backdrop, such as soft sage green, dusky rose, or warm parchment white. Use a pencil to sketch flowing, serpentine lines that wrap around the roll, morphing into stylized ivy, lilies, or poppies.

Sculpt oversized, leafy ears from heavy watercolor paper and attach them smoothly to the top rim. As you paint the floral patterns, weave them seamlessly into the cat’s features—perhaps a vine forms the outline of the sleeping eyes, or a blooming rose sits precisely at the chest like a floral brooch. Accentuate the contours with fine gold leaf or metallic paint pen highlights that catch the light. This breathtaking craft feels less like a cardboard project and more like a cherished piece of fine art pottery or antique stained glass design.
