18. Cliffside Coastal Tunnel Station

Carved directly into the sheer face of a seaside cliff, this tunnel station blends geology with heavy engineering. Train tracks emerge from a dark, reinforced mountain tunnel, pause at a cantilevered glass and dark oak platform sticking out over the crashing ocean waves, and then dive back into another tunnel along the coast. The station structure is anchored to the cliffside using thick support beams crafted from spruce logs and iron chains.
Safety barriers made from glass panes and iron trapdoors ensure commuters don’t fall into the rocky waters below. Inside the cliffside tunnel portion, carve out built-in waiting rooms, complete with glass display windows carved into the stone face that look out across the horizon. Adding a lighthouse atop the cliff directly above the station entrance gives the entire location a functional, nautical purpose that guards both sea and rail traffic.
