12. Bleeding Wax Pillar Candles with Black Tacks
Create a dramatic centerpiece with candles that appear to weep blood when lit. Start with thick, white pillar candles of varying heights. Melt a red wax crayon or a red taper candle over the top of the white candles, letting the red wax drip down the sides in thick, irregular streams. Once the wax has cooled and hardened, press small, black upholstery tacks or metal pins into the sides of the candles in a spiral pattern, resembling a crown of thorns or abstract stitches. When you light the white candles, the melting wax will continue to mingle with the red drips, creating a dynamic, changing art piece throughout your evening festivities.
