16. The Mangrove Swamp Mountain Refuge
Built where a muddy mangrove swamp collides with a steep stone mountain range, this refuge offers a unique, rich color palette and cozy water-focused architecture. The exterior features warm Mud Bricks, Rich Mangrove Roots, and Deep Red Mangrove Planks carved into the damp rock cliff. Stilts and wooden support posts anchor the elevated exterior boardwalks into the muddy riverbank below, while warm froglights illuminate the foggy swamp perimeter.
Inside, the refuge boasts a uniquely warm, tropical subterranean aesthetic. The rich red tones of mangrove wood are paired with smooth granite and dark oak framing to create a dense, luxurious feel. The layout includes an amphibious docking bay for swamp navigation, an automated sugar cane and kelp farm built into internal stone terraces, and a cozy central hearth chamber featuring plush carpeted seating, hanging vines, and built-in wall aquariums housing local swamp life.
